Poems by Resonate’: Loneliness

People need other people.  And I believe a great deal of us experience feeling alone at times.  Some more than others whether we admit it or not.  This is my attempt to speak to it’s often complex way of battling our psyche.

Torturing my soul – incapacitating me

Torch songs and sad melodies

I hate you

A friend your not but you hang around like you love me

Taking my will and drowning me in sorrows

Assassinating my hope and faith in tomorrow

Alone in my heart – emptiness and grief

Piercing look in my eyes gritting my teeth

In anger I rebel and say fuck you to the world

I don’t need you or the love you pretend to give

Hell Is For Children blast through my ears

This sickness has plagued my soul for years

Imagination – get me away from here

Take me to a dream world where I won’t have to fear

Give me temporary relief so that I can go on

Fooling myself so I can go on

Wake up in the morning so I can go on

Breathe again so I can go on

This mean wicked of a being

Shows me the way and keeps me from seeing

Love right before my eyes

Is it the truth or a repeated surprise

Deja vu damn I have been here before

Walking upright esteem touches the floor

Leave me alone I don’t want you no more

Loneliness sits down and begins to speak

Tell me all about my situation so bleak.

I cry for help but there is none to be found

I listen for clues but no not a sound

If I could sleep I would

Should I give up, maybe I should

Save me save me I cry once again

Touch my inner child, heal me again

But loneliness embraces me tight and won’t let go

Her voice I hear, her touch I know

In an intoxicating way she kisses me goodnight

While I smile and wave pretending everything’s alright.

Political Haiku Poems by Resonate’

As we wind down the last few weeks before the election, I thought that this is a great opportunity to be creative with the events at hand and challenge myself to produce some poems in the form of a Haiku.

A Haiku in the traditional sense is a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons.

Let’s have some fun with the concept and see what we can come up with.  I’ll start them off.  Feel free to post some of your own in the comment field.

* On the Elections

A few more weeks till the polls

John McCain is toast

Palin back to Alaska

* On The VP Debates

Answer the questions Palin

I like Fey better

Ifill should have drilled your ass

* On The Economy

The Dow Jones is down again

401K shot

Get this fool out the White House

* On Obama

Barack Obama is fly

Down for change we need

America don’t screw up

Poems by Resonate’: Healing in the Touch

An aquaintance of mine always uses this term, and it has stuck with me.  After a couple years of hearing it, I finally felt inspired to do something with the concept.

Healing In The Touch

What’s happening brotha

Can I get some dap

With a soul brotha shake – that gimme love embrace

I haven’t been around much

Maybe you can catch me up

There is healing in your touch

3 in the afternoon

Picking my baby up from school

I hold her in my arms

The weight of the world long gone

I missed you so much

There is healing in her touch

From spirit to through the womb

The warmth of her son, under the moon

My face against her chest

Her heartbeat made me rest

My bottom my back she clutched

There was healing in my momma’s touch

Hey baby it’s been a while

Missed your smell and your smile

How was your day?  Mine so-so

But this much yes – I do know

Under the covers where we lay

We can talk about the week or the day

Inhale me exhale your troubles away

I’m not talking about a carnal lust

But in this union do I trust

Inside each other – there’s healing in this touch

The touch is good to the soul

Stimulating young and old

All types all kinds we celebrate

Loving touches void of hate

Proper touches from God’s own heart

This is where the healing starts~

Can’t buy with money fame or wealth

Good for spirit prone towards health

So touch a brotha, sista, or self~

New Feature: Books Alive!

I added a new feature called the Personal Book Club.  Its right under the “About me” section on the right side.  I am on a great roll these days going through a lot of useful material and I enjoy the fruits of learning.  A reader is a leader.   Let me know if there are any books you can suggest.
